WAVEBAND
More than 30% ADHD kids will be continuously influenced by their ADHD symptom after entering adolescence but there are no devices or tools specific designed for them.
Waveband is a wearable device with emotion sensor that can detect ADHD kids emotion wave. It can help older ADHD patient learn how to coexist and control their symptom and maintain their normal life.

BACKGROUND
What is ADHD?
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is the most commonly diagnosed mental disorder of children. Children with ADHD may be hyperactive and unable control their impulses. ADHD affects children and teens and can continue into adulthood.
Overactivity
Impulsiveness
Inattention
Facts
More than 30% of kids with ADHD will be continuously influenced by their symptom after entering adolescence but there are no devices or tools specific designed for them.
Problem
“Can we design a tool that from the perspective of the teens that helps them deal with their symptoms?”
DESIGN PROCESS
From interviews with experts and high school teachers, I realized the existing school environment is not friendly for teenager with ADHD. Unlike ADHD kids, overactivity at high school not only creates difficult for teachers but also influences teenager social interaction with other students.
INSIGHT
“By reminder or call the students name this can help reduce distraction during the class”
IDEATION
Based on interview insight, I began to design a wearable device, using lights and emotion sensors, that will minimize distraction among teenagers with ADHD.
DURABLE
This device should be able to utilize in any condition
SUITABLE
This device also need to be able to fit into the culture of teenager
LEARNABLE
This tools must be able to let ADHD kids learn to control their symptom

FINAL DESIGN
Waveband is a wearable device with a sensor that can detect emotional changes, helping teens recognize and control their symptoms and maintain normal life.
The wave structure on top can attract their attention as a tactile engagement, and emotional. The light reminder system on the side can reflect their situation and help reduce distraction.
Interface
The wave interface is the tool that can collect the data from the waveband emotion sensor. It can report the situation in real time to a teacher or parent when a teenager is getting distracted. It also can collect useful data for doctors.
